His visionary leadership led to the establishment of RFDS, which greatly improved healthcare access for rural and remote communities across Australia.

2. William George Hutton (1860-1926)

William George Hutton was an Australian politician and a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. He represented the Etheridge electorate from 1893 to 1909. Hutton actively promoted the development of Etheridge and was instrumental in securing important infrastructure projects for the region.

3. Albert Thomas Reginald Smith (1881-1970)

Albert Thomas Reginald Smith, commonly known as A.T. Smith, was an Australian cricketer who played as a wicket-keeper for Queensland. Born in Mount Surprise, Etheridge, Smith represented Queensland in first-class cricket matches from 1910 to 1914. He was known for his exceptional skills behind the stumps.

4. Henry Evans (1868-1950)

Henry Evans was an Australian naturalist and ornithologist. He grew up in Etheridge and developed a deep passion for studying birds from an early age. 5. Margaret Thorsborne (1933-2018)

Along with her husband Arthur Thorsborne, she played a vital role in the protection of the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest.
